Laurel County Sheriff John Root and London Police Chief Chuck Johnson says their departments participated in a mock DUI involved traffic crash at South Laurel High School. The event was coordinated by Christie Shrader – Laurel County Agency For Substance Abuse Policy Board Coordinator in conjunction with South Laurel High school officials. The re-enactment by ambulance crews, fire department, rescue and police was designed to make students aware of the dangers of impaired driving prior to prom night. If the mock car crash had been real, one student would be dead, another would be critically injured and another would be in jail. Afterwards, students returned to the school’s auditorium where a mock trial and sentencing was conducted.
