Police in Clay County say a man has been charged with attempted murder. Police were dispatched to Paw Paw Road where two men were reportedly fighting, leading to one of them being shot in the back. When police confronted 40-year-old Billy Wombles, of Manchester, he told them that he was in possession of the firearm he used to shoot the other man. Police determined Wombles was the primary aggressor. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder and first degree wanton endangerment. Wombles was taken to the Clay County Detention Center.
