London’s annual Independence Day celebration, Red, White and Boom, will be held this Saturday, June 29th, at the Wellness Park off the 192 Bypass. Festivities begin at 4 with games, live entertainment, contests and other activities. The Kentucky National Guard is bringing back its popular Blackhawk helicopter demonstration and flag jump. Children will enjoy a petting zoo from Hillview Stables, face painting and the Hillbilly Choo Choo. Also featured will be strolling magicians, clowns, a stilt walker and unicyclist. On stage the musical entertainment will feature two rising all-female bands from Nashville, July Moon and Landrey. Food vendors will also be on hand to make sure no one goes hungry or thirsty. Besides the food and beverages, everything else is free of charge. Of course, at dusk, Southeast Kentucky’s largest fireworks display. Red, White and Boom and the Wellness Park are both funded and supported by London Tourism & Parks. The event is held in conjunction with Somerset Community College-Laurel County Campus.
