Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Tommy Houston and Sgt. Brett Reeves were called out to a home off South Laurel Road to assist the Department of Child Based Services on a referral. During the investigation, police determined 22-year-old Chastity Jean Eversole was under the influence while caring for a newborn and three-year-old. Eversole was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. She was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center. The children were removed from the home and placed in the custody of Department of Child Based Services.
