The London Police Department says Officer Kendric Smith, along with Sgt. Wade Mitchell, Officer Mikey Ashurst and Officer Jared Hale, were called out to investigate reports of suspicious people walking through private property. Officers arrived to find 27-year-old William Riley, of London, and another person in the area. Riley was found with drug paraphernalia in plain view. Riley also had the keys to a 2018 Cadillac XTS, which was nearby. It turned out the owner of the vehicle had not given permission to Riley to drive it. During his arrest, Riley reportedly made threats to officers. He was charged with receiving stolen property, public intoxication, menacing and terroristic threatening. Riley was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
