Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Detective Taylor McDaniel made an arrest in connection to a shooting incident. Deputies were called out to a residence off Slate Lick Road where a man was reportedly shot. The suspect, 40-year-old Amy Simpson, had fled the scene, but deputies found her off Love Road where she was taken into custody. During the investigation it was determined that Simpson and the victim had an argument which led to the shooting. A handgun was recovered. The man was found with a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Simpson was charged with first degree assault and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
