Laurel County Traffic Stop Leads To DUI and Other Charges

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says while Deputy Bobby Roberts was patrolling on KY 30, he attempted to pull over vehicle for an equipment violation. Deputy Roberts said the vehicle made a hard stop, turned into a driveway and turned the lights off. The driver, 41-year-old Benjamin Pedigo of East Bernstadt, said he stopped there to see a friend. During the investigation, it was determined that Pedigo’s license was suspended and the plates belonged on another vehicle. Pedigo also had an outstanding warrant and was determined to be under the influence. He admitted that he had smoked meth the day before. Pedigo was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – second offense; driving on a DUI suspended license – first offense; failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense and failure to register transfer of motor vehicle. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
