Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Nate Bishop and Deputy Matt Walker were called out to Taylor Bridge Road where a man was reportedly out of control. As deputies arrived, they noticed a man, later identified as 30-year-old Dustin Patterson, run to the back of a house. Deputies found Patterson hiding in a shed behind the house where he was taken into custody. Patterson told deputies it was an instinct to run when he saw the law. Patterson was determined to be under the influence and had three active warrants of arrest including two indictment warrants. In addition to the warrants, Patterson was charged with fleeing or evading police and alcohol intoxication. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
