Laurel County Sheriff John Root reports Deputy Allen Turner caught up to a motorcyclist who had temporarily eluded police in a pursuit. Earlier this week, Deputy Turner attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle with no registration plates on Village Street. The rider, later identified as 35-year-old Jonathan Coots, of East Bernstadt, failed to stop and rode behind some businesses off KY 192 and into a wooded area where he laid the motorcycle down and fled on foot. Deputy Turner developed information leading to Coot’s location where, with the assistance of other deputies and London Police officers, took him into custody. Coots was charged with fleeing or evading police, speeding, reckless driving and destruction of a VIN number. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
