Laurel County Police Arrest Indiana Man for Impersonating a Police Officer

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Austyn Weddle was called out to a business off West Cumberland Gap Parkway where a man had reportedly put up a tent and was causing a disturbance saying he couldn’t move his vehicle because of construction barricades. Deputy Weddle arrived to find 48-year-old Erik Graber of Plainville, Indiana there and that the owner of the property had given him permission to put up the tent. Highway workers had offered to remove the barricades, but Graber refused and continued to cause a disturbance. While police interviewed Graber, he identified himself as a reserve Deputy Sheriff from a Sheriff’s office in Indiana. During the investigation it was determined that Graber was not a police officer. Graber was arrested and charged with impersonating a peace officer and disorderly conduct. He was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
