Laurel County Police Arrest Cynthiana Man for DUI and Others After Trying to Flee

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Bobby Roberts tried to pull over a vehicle on South Laurel Road that had no registration plate. The driver, later identified as 48-year-old Johnny Claypool of Cynthiana, failed to stop for almost a mile before turning off, circling behind a business and fleeing on foot. Following a brief struggle, Claypool was taken into custody. During his arrest, Claypool was found to be under the influence and in possession of a clear crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. He was also wanted on warrants out of Scott and Harrison Counties. Claypool was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
