Laurel County Health Department Gives Weekly Update on COVID and Flu

During their weekly update on Kool Gold’s London News Now, the Laurel County Health Department gave an update on respiratory illnesses. Public Services Supervisor, Tyler Caldwell, said from January 15th to January 19th there were 37 new cases and no new hospitalizations. Caldwell says those numbers may be artificially low due to the Martin Luther King holiday and weather conditions. He said flu cases actually dipped, but that the CDC anticipates another uptick. Caldwell said other than staying up to date on vaccinations, it’s important to practice preventive measures like washing your hands, covering your coughs and sneezes and staying home when you’re sick.
