Laurel County 17-Year-Old Arrested after Leading Police in a Chase on Stolen Motorcycle

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Bobby Roberts attempted to pull over motorcycle after noticing the rider fail to signal a turn on Echo Valley Road. The motorcycle also had no license plate. The motorcycle sped up leading the deputy on a chase with speeds in excess of 126 mph. At the Knox County line, the motorcycle turned onto Matt Baker Road, lost control and crashed. The rider took off running and following a short foot chase, was taken into custody. The rider, a 17-year-old male was determined to be under the influence and the motorcycle was determined to be stolen out of Tennessee. The rider was charged with receiving stolen property, DUI, and several other traffic offenses. Since the rider was underage, his name and photo were not released.
