Kentucky State Police say a body has been found near the scene of a mass shooting incident on I-75 exit 49 in Laurel County. Fred and Sheila McCoy were in the area filming YouTube videos while searching for the suspect, Joseph Couch. The McCoys found the body after following buzzards and a stench and alerted troopers who were also in the area searching. KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett said they are very confident that the discovery brings closure to the search for Joseph Couch as personal artifacts and a weapon found with the body are consistent with the suspect. He thanked all partners for their collaborative effort and said the people of Laurel County can rest much easier now that this manhunt has been concluded. The body is to be transported to the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort. The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office will continue to lead the 1-75 shooting investigation.
