LONDON, Ky. – The American Red Cross, along with other groups, will be offering in-person support to survivors at Disaster Recovery Centers in Laurel and Pulaski Counties as the result of the severe weather and tornado impacts earlier this month.
Red Cross representatives can discuss available assistance programs for eligible households whose homes were destroyed or sustained major structural damage during the May tornadoes, how those impacted can apply to the Red Cross for financial assistance and can help connect survivors with resources for their recovery needs.

You do not need to visit a center to apply with the Red Cross
We are actively reaching out to specific individuals whose homes the Red Cross has confirmed were destroyed or sustained major structural damage. Households where we have contact information will receive an invitation to enroll through an email, text message or phone call directly from the Red Cross. Those who receive an invitation to complete an application for financial assistance can complete the entire process virtually by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to enroll, confirm eligibility, and receive individual financial assistance.
For others who we do not have contact information for and believe they have qualifying damage, the Red Cross is encouraging people to speak with a Red Cross representative at a Disaster Recovery Center, go to redcross.org/gethelp to register online, or call 1-800-RED-CROSS to provide the information needed to open a case and receive this help. The Red Cross will make every effort to connect with the people whose homes received major structural damage or were completely destroyed.
We also encourage the public to be aware of scams or people posing as Red Cross representatives. Eligible households will receive an invitation via email or text based on the contact information the Red Cross has. If you’re unsure whether the Red Cross has reached out, please call 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCEThanks to the generosity of donors, the Red Cross is offering financial assistance in some areas to qualified households whose primary residence was destroyed or sustained major structural damage during the May tornadoes.
To help people as quickly as we can, the Red Cross is providing financial assistance through a phased rollout process moving from county to county in impacted areas. Once damage assessment is complete for a county, we send text messages, email or phone calls with instructions to qualified households on how to access financial assistance. It will take time for us to reach everyone, and we appreciate your patience as we move as quickly as we can. To learn more, please visit redcross.org/gethelp.
