Laurel County Public Schools Selects New Chief of Police

Laurel County Public Schools is proud to announce the selection of Jessie Williams as the new Chief of Police for the Laurel County Schools Police Department. A distinguished veteran with a 20-year career in law enforcement, Chief Williams has a long history of serving the Laurel County community.

Chief Williams has held various roles within the Laurel County Schools Police Department, the London Police Department, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Department. His experience includes serving as a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Hunter Hills Elementary and, most recently, at North Laurel High School.

Beyond his work as an SRO, Chief Williams brings a wealth of specialized training to his new position. He has completed the Academy of Police Supervision and Rapid Response training. He is also a certified firearms instructor and instructor trainer, with a background in teaching law enforcement personnel in key areas such as:

· Tactical command

· Critical incident management

· Threat/risk assessment

· Hostage rescue

· Special event planning

Recently, Chief Williams and the entire Laurel County Schools Police Department participated in a joint training exercise at London Elementary School, which included the London Police Department, the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department, and the London Fire Department. This collaborative training focused on critical incident response, ensuring all agencies are prepared to work together to protect our students and staff.
