London Police Responded to a Bomb Threat at Laurel County Courthouse

Officials evacuated the Old Courthouse and Annex Building in Laurel County Monday due to a bomb threat. At approximately 9:45 a.m., Laurel County 911 dispatched units to the Laurel County Courthouse after receiving messages about three explosive devices in and around the building. The threat was initially sent to multiple media outlets and a local official. The person who sent the email to the outlets stated the explosives were set to go off at 11 a.m. Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, KSP, London Police Department, and London Fire Department conducted searches of the buildings with a bomb dog and drones to find the possible explosive devices. After several sweeps of the area, it was confirmed that no explosive device was in or around the Courthouse or Annex building. The investigation is still ongoing, and police say they have methods for finding the individual who sent the threat.
