Lambert Elected First Female Chief Justice for the Commonwealth of Kentucky

The Justices of the Supreme Court of Kentucky voted to elect Deputy Chief Justice Debra Hembree Lambert as the next chief justice of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Justice Lambert’s four year term will begin January 6th, 2025, and she will be the first female Chief Justice for Kentucky. She served as a justice for the Supreme Court in November of 2018 from the 3rd Supreme Court District. She currently heads the Kentucky Judicial Commission on Mental Health. In her time as a family court judge, she created the first drug court in the area, and the National Association of Drug Court Professionals inducted her into the Stanley M. Goldstein Drug Court Hall of Fame in 2002. Justice Lambert’s focus on mental health filters into her volunteering as a certified suicide prevention trainer where she teaches others on how to intervene correctly in preventing suicide.
