Two Men Arrested In Knox County After Allegedly Stealing Copper

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith says Deputy Jeremiah Williamson and LT Sam Mullins responded to a report of two men stealing wire from the Cobra Coal Mine on KY 233 in Gray. While enroute the deputies were notified that the two men had gotten into a vehicle and hit another vehicle as they left the mine. Deputies say when they met the fleeing vehicle, they were forced off the road to avoid a collision. Police turned around and gave chase. The vehicle finally stopped on Hazel Fork Road, where the passenger, 29-year-old Abraham Flannelly, of Williamsburg, fled on foot. Flannelly was caught and taken into custody. Meanwhile, the driver, Michael Flannelly, of Williamsburg, was arrested. Both were charged with theft and other charges and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
