The National Park Service is seeking public comment on the proposed fee changes at Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. Officials say park entrance will still be free and that fees will apply for recreational activities. Those same fees will be used to help provide resources for the park such as maintenance for picnic shelters, tour vehicles, and campground facilities. A study conducted found that even after the increase, the camping fees at Wilderness Road Campground were still lower than area rates for similar services. Park leadership is accepting public comments on the proposed fee increases for a period of 30 days, as of August 5th and closing on September 4th, 2024. Following public engagement and NPS approval the fees could be implemented by October 2024. Comments may be submitted to: cuga_interpretation@npc.gov
