Mayor Randall Weddle recently honored the actions of London Fire Department Captain Ricky George. George was awarded the Mayor’s Valor Medal for saving the life of Brandon Buckner, who suffered injuries and had to be airlifted to UK hospital after responding to the fire at the Huffman and Huffman Eye Surgeons building. Mayor Weddle, along with David King, Donnie Hale, Trevor Overbay, and Brandon and Brandi Buckner highlighted Captain George’s excellence as a firefighter, his leadership within the department and community, and his role as a mentor to younger firefighters.
