Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Deputy Skyler McFarland and Deputy Joe Breeding were dispatched to an apparent single vehicle collision in front of a business in a construction zone on West Cumberland Gap Parkway. Upon arrival at the scene deputies found a car halfway in the road with the front bumper pressed up against a construction cone. Deputies found the driver, 23-year-old Jordan Taylor of Corbin, unconscious with shallow breathing. When deputies were unable to wake him, they suspected an overdose, so they administered Narcan and conducted a sternum rub bringing him to. A in the passenger seat, 19-year-old Kaylee Martin of Corbin, was determined to be under the influence of controlled substances. A 9-month-old baby boy was in a rear facing car seat. Taylor reportedly admitted to police he had taken Xanax and snorted heroin before driving the vehicle. Social services was summoned to the scene to take custody of the nine month old child. Taylor and Martin were arrested and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
