Back in 1964, during President Lyndon B. Johnson’s war on poverty, 23 community action agencies were created. One of those was KCEOC, based in Knox County. Officials with the organization have since been working to help people in the Cumberland Valley region. President and CEO Paul Dole said what started out as a $250,000 grant has grown into helping in several entities such as early childhood education, food assistance and housing. KCEOC Community Action Partnership, Inc. is being awarded the 2024 East Kentucky Leadership Award for Organization for the Year.
