The Somerset-Pulaski County EMS was discussed in a special city council meeting this week. The City of Somerset operates EMS while the county contributes more than $1 million in funding, but with the current EMS pay rates and high call volume impacting an already short-staffed department, the city made a proposal to the county. The city is asking the county to increase EMS funds by $300,000 per year. Mayor Alan Keck said there are other options if that request is not fulfilled. The meeting adjourned with plans to reach a solution at the next meeting on March 18th.
