COVID and Flu Numbers Continue to be Relatively Low, but Slight Uptick in Hospitalizations in Laurel County

During their weekly update on Kool Gold’s London News Now, the Laurel County Health Department reported COVID and flu numbers continue to be low in the county. Public Services Supervisor, Tyler Caldwell, said from October 30th to November 3rd there were 88 new cases and 6 new hospitalizations. Caldwell says flu cases continue to be low at this point. He said the most frequently reported flu type continues to be influenza A which is targeted by the current vaccine. Caldwell said as we get into flu and respiratory illness season, it’s important to practice preventive measures like washing your hands, covering your coughs and sneezes, staying home when you’re sick and staying up to date on vaccinations.
