Flagrant Non Support Arrest

The Laurel Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Brad Mitchell along with Sheriff John Root arrested an individual on Hawk Creek Road, 8 miles west of London on Friday (12-14-12) at 10:00 A.M. Arrested was: Perry M. Waddle age 48, Hawk Creek Road, London charged with: Flagrant Non Support---he reportedly owed $30,000 in back child support. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Child Abuse arrest

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Robbie Grimes , along with Deputy Steve Hoskins were dispatched to a complaint of domestic violence on Clark Lane , 7 miles south of London (near Lily) on Saturday night (12-8-2012) at 9:30 P.M. Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Grimes learned that a male subject had allegedly choked his 9 year old daughter, and thrown her in a closet, and had kicked his 7 year old child. Arrested was: Thomas Gifford age 31 of Clark Lane, Lily charged with: 2 counts of Assault 4th Degree(Child Abuse), and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Social Services was notified.

Death Investigation in Clay County

(LONDON, KY.) – On Saturday, December 08, 2012 at 3:06 PM the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London, received a report, from the Clay County 911 Center, of a person found deceased on Saw Mill Hollow Road in the Crawlfish community of Clay County.

 

Upon arrival Detective Richie Baxter discovered the victim just off a dirt road.

 

The cause of death and positive identification are pending the outcome of an autopsy.

 

Detective Baxter is continuing the investigation and he was assisted by officers from the Kentucky State Police, the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and the Clay County Coroner’s Office.

Arrest at judicial center

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Bailiff Brandon Broughton, along with Bailiff Shane Rice arrested a female subject identified as Teddi Day age 41 of East Bernstadt on Tuesday morning(12-4-2012) at the Laurel County Judicial Center in London charging her on an outstanding Lincoln County Bench Warrant for failure to appear in court on Theft By Deception charges . She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Missing man found

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Senior Sgt Greg Poynter, along with Deputy Robbie Grimes, and Deputy John Inman were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject reported as missing out of Stanford, Ky was seen on Mt Zion Road, 14 miles north of London on Saturday, 12-1-2012 at 1:31 P.M. The man, who had medical issues, was reported to be in the woods off Mt. Zion Road, and did not want to be found. London –Laurel County Rescue Squad, and Laurel County Department of Public Safety responded to the scene to assist in the search for the missing, disorientated man. After a search of approx. 2 hours the male subject was located by deputies in a wooded area, and transported by ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment and evaluation.

Drug arrest

Sheriff John Root is reporting that a male subject was arrested on Saturday (12-1-2012) an outstanding drug charge related to the sheriff’s recent drug roundup. Arrested was: Clinton O. Jackson age 39 of Payne Trail, London charged with Cultivating Marijuana., and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Corbin P.D. assisted .

Arrests will be continuing, as suspects are located.

Drug arrest

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Kirk Mays along with Deputy Greg Turner assisted social services on a complaint concerning a juvenile runaway who might possibly be at a location on Crescent View Drive, one mile west of London, on Monday night (12-3-2012) at 9:32 P.M. . While at the residence attempting to locate the juvenile, deputies discovered a straw with a white powdery substance on it, spoons with a blue pill melted down on them containing suspected roxycets, and hypodermic needles. Arrested was: Roy W. Osborne age 38 of Osborne Road, London charged with: Possession Of Controlled Substance 1st Degree,1st Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Tractor Trailer fire in Whitley County

(Williamsburg, KY) On Wednesday December 5th 2012 around 6:00 P.M. officer Keegan Bray with the Kentucky State Police-Vehicle Enforcement responded to a report of a tractor trailer fire located on I-75 northbound near the 13 mile marker in Williamsburg Kentucky.

Upon arrival officer Bray determined that 60 year old Jerry W. Boxell of Portland Indiana was operating a 2007 international tractor trailer north on I-75 when he discovered the rear of his truck was on fire.

Boxell was able to unhook from his trailer and pull away prior to any damages being done to the cargo. Both northbound lane of travel was shut down for 30 minutes while the fire department and clean up crews worked to extinguish the fire and clear the roadway.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the incident and officers believe a leaking wheel seal and hot brakes are a direct cause of the fire.

Fatal Traffic Crash

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Sgt Chuck Johnson, accident reconstructionist, along with Sgt Richard Dalrymple ,accident reconstructionist, are investigating a two vehicle double fatal traffic crash which occurred on Ky 3434(Old Richmond Road) , 2 miles north of London on Tuesday afternoon at approx. 3:50 P.M.

Apparently, a Chev. Cobalt car traveling northbound on Ky 3434 lost control when its right front tire dropped off the roadway. The car traveled out of control sliding sideways into the bath of a southbound Cadillac SUV. After impact the car overturned on its top onto the shoulder of the road. The SUV overturned on its side and came to rest blocking the roadway.
