Drug Arrest Warrant

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back working in conjunction with the London Office of the U.S. Marshal Service arrested a Laurel County man on an outstanding drug arrest warrant on Monday afternoon 5-7-2012 at 3:45 P.M. on Bridgestone Road, 3 miles north of London. Arrested was : Dudley W. Wagers age 38 of Bridgestone Road, London charged on a bench warrant for Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree. Wagers had evaded capture since 2009 where he had been indicted by Laurel Circuit Court’s Grand Jury for Trafficking Marijuana. Earlier this year, a narcotics case was investigated involving the accused, and information developed on his whereabouts.

Assisting on the arrest from Laurel County Sheriff’s Office was: Lt Rodney Van Zant, and Sgt Chuck Johnson.

Dudley Wagers was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

Traffic crash on Ky 312

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Joshua Scott, and Deputy Kirk Mays investigated a possible injury traffic crash on Ky312 which occurred early Monday morning (5-7-2012). Investigation revealed that a tractor trailer had slid 150 feet on its side and came to rest blocking a large portion of Ky 312 , 10 miles south of London.  The driver was taken to BRMC by Ambulance Inc Of Laurel County to be checked for possible injury. The driver told investigators that  while enroute to the Laurel Cookie Factory via directions from his GPS he ended up on 312. He glanced at an object in the truck. When he looked up, the tractor had dropped off the road and he was unable to recover. He was loaded with  24,000 pounds, and several big wreckers had to be utilized to move the vehicle. Both lanes of Ky312 were closed for several hours. Laurel Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore assisted at the scene.

Theft suspect arrested

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy John Inman made an arrest on a reported stolen vehicle on Sunday afternoon (5-6-2012 )at approx 12:24 P.M., on Barbourville Road, 6 miles south of London. The reported stolen vehicle( a Chev. S10 pickup that was stolen from O’Reillys Auto Parts on March 31, 2012)was recovered earlier(5-4-2012) by Whitley County Deputy Bill Riley. After developing information on the suspect’s whereabouts, Deputy Inman and Deputy Milton Storm staked out the location, and the suspect showed up and was arrested without incident. He is identified as: Steven D. Williams age 33 of Hopkins Cemetery Road, London charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking , and Being A persistent Felony Offender. He was lodged in the Laurel County detention Facility. The accused reportedly has previous convictions , and stated he was under the influence of drugs when he stole the pickup truck.

4 arrested for meth

(LONDON, KY.) – On Saturday, May 05, 2012 at approximately 2:19 pm the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received a report of possible drug activity at a residence on Lakeshore Drive in the Burnside community of Pulaski County.

 

Upon arrival troopers made contact with the occupants of the residence and through investigation discovered fourteen (14) one step Meth labs, four (4) HCL generators and various items used in the manufacture of Methamphetamine. Also, located in the residence were two (2) children which were taken to the Lake Cumberland Regional Medical Center to be checked out. They were released to the custody of the Cabinet for Families and Children for placement in a safe environment.

 

Arrested at the scene was:

1.) Michael Kowell, 36, of Bronston, charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st offense.

 

2.) William Davis, 42, of Somerset, charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st offense.

 

3.) Joseph J. Young, 41, of Burnside, charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine 1st offense and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st degree, 1st offense.

 

4.) Robin Young, 30, of Burnside, charged on an outstanding warrant from Probation and Parole.

 

5.) 17 year old juvenile, taken into custody on a juvenile pickup order.

 

 

 

Responding to the scene was: Trooper Sean Dixon, Detective Doug Boyd, Trooper Ryan Loudermilk, Detective Tracy Haynes and Sergeant Lafe Owens and officers from the KSP Drug Enforcement / Special Investigations East branch.

 

Cold Case Murder investigation

(LONDON, KY.) – The Kentucky State Police, Post 11, London has been following up on leads into the Murder of Clay County Sheriff James M. "Matt" Sizemore on Sunday, June 01, 1969. Sheriff Sizemore was found shot to death on Ephram Creek Road, off of KY 687, southwest of Manchester, KY.

 

On Thursday, May 03, 2012 the Kentucky State Police, Post 11 London received, from the Clay County Grand Jury, a indictment for Murder against Oran Brumley, 61, formerly of Clay County.

 

Trooper Jeff Senters is in charge of the investigation and was assisted by KSP Detective Mark Allen, Retired KSP Detective Robert Cox, Retired KSP Sergeant Rowland Huckabee and the former Clay County Sheriff Ed Jordan.

Update on stabbing

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Sgt Greg Poynter, Deputy Shawn Borviak, and Deputy Robbie Grimes responded to a complaint of a reported stabbing which occurred on Payne Trail Road, 2 miles east of London on Wednesday afternoon (5-2-2012) at approx. 5 P.M. The victim is identified as: Tommy Smith age 44 of Payne Trail Road, London . He received a stab wound to the abdomen and was treated by EMS, and Ambulance Inc. Of Laurel County , and airlifted from the scene by helicopter to UK Med Center in Lexington. The suspect fled the scene in a yellow colored Lincoln, and has not been located despite a search of the area .Allegedly the stabbing was the result of an altercation between the two men yesterday, and the suspect returned today, and another altercation occurred between the two men. A person of interest is being sought for questioning by the Sheriff’s Office , and he is identified as: William Joshua Tyler Smallwood age 18. He had been staying on Payne Trail recently.

Laurel Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore assisted on the investigation.

Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet is the lead investigator, and the investigation is continuing.

 

Update on 5-3-2012 at 2:50 P.M.

On 5-3-2012 at approx. 3 A.M. William Smallwood age 18 of Collins Cemetery Road, Manchester turned himself in at London regarding the stabbing which occurred earlier on Payne Trail Road, London. He was charged with Assault 1st degree and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Daryl Zanet is continuing to investigate.

2 arrested on outstanding warrants

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Detective Jason Back arrested two different persons on unrelated cases on Thursday afternoon (5-3-2012) at 3:P.M. while working with the U.S. Marshal Service on arresting area fugitives wanted on outstanding warrants.

The first subject arrested was Heather Green age 22 of Exeter Ave. Middlesboro located in London off Ky 80 charged with: A Bench Warrant from Bell County for Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree( 2 counts), Assault 4th, and Prostitution.

Also arrested on an unrelated case was :Rachel Farr age 21 address not determined , arrested in London off Ky 80 on a Bell County Bench warrant for Receiving Stolen Property .

Both persons were lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.

3 vehicle injury traffic crash

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Eddy Sizemore investigated a 3 vehicle injury traffic crash which occurred on U.S. 25, 1.7 miles north of London on Thursday afternoon (5-3-2012) at 1:oo P.M. Apparently a red Nissan Versa car driven by Lauren Newell age 28 Oak Street, London was southbound on U.S. 25 , and turned in front of the path of a northbound silver Ford Taurus, knocking the Ford Taurus into a Ford pickup truck that was stopped in the parking lot of a gas food mart. The Taurus and pickup came to rest position in the parking lot. The Nissan car came to rest blocking the north bound lane of U.S. 25. The Nissan car was severely damaged. There were minor injuries reported in the Nissan, and the Taurus, and injured persons were transported to St. Joseph Hospital London for treatment. Arrested at the hospital was Lauren Newell age 28 charged with Driving Under The Influence , and No Operator’s License, and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility. Deputy Gilbert Acciardo assisted at the scene.

Also assisting at the scene was EMS, and East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department.

Domestic dispute on Swiss Colony

Sheriff John Root is reporting that Laurel Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Boroviak responded to a domestic dispute On Swiss Colony Lane , 5 miles west of London on Monday night (4-30-2012) at 7:45 P.M. Upon arrival, Deputy Boroviak learned that a dispute had occurred there involving three persons-(a male subject , and 2 female subjects). The male subject broke out a front window glass to the residence causing injuries to one of the females;he also allegedly twisted the foot on the other female. The females asked him to leave, and he refused, and punched a storm door window, breaking it. He then left the scene on foot. Deputy Greg Turner and Deputy Steve Hoskins located the male subject and arrested him 5 miles west of London on Monday night (4-30-2012) at approx 8:28 P.M. , walking out White Oak Road. While being arrested , he threatened the deputies. Arrested was: Michael W. Robinson age 41 of High Moore Road, London charged with: Assault 4th Degree, Criminal Trespass 1st degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree regarding the domestic complaint on Swiss Colony Lane, and also charged with Alcohol Intoxication in A Public Place, and Terroristic Threatening regarding the arrest on White Oak Road. Robinson was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.
