Number Of Kentuckians On Disability Up 249%

A report from Kentucky's Disability Determination Services within the Cabinet for Health and Family Services shows more Kentuckians than ever are now receiving disability benefits. According to the report, between 1980 and 2015 Kentucky's population grew by 21% and in that same time, the number of adults and children on disability went up 249%. In 2015 11.2% of Kentuckians were receiving some disability, the second highest rate in the nation. Wolfe County had the highest rate in the state at 24.9% Perry County got the number 11 spot, at 18.8% of the population receiving some disability payment.
